"두시간 기다렸어요."한파에도 오픈런

크리스마스 이브인 지난 12월 24일 서울 중구에 위치한 신세계·롯데백화점 맞은편에는 사람들로 북새통을 이뤘다. 백화점 외관을 통해 수천 개의 조명과 영상을 선보이는 ‘미디어 파사드’를 찍기 위해 모인 이들로, 수많은 인파가 몰렸기 때문이다.

인증샷을 촬영하기 위해 영업 전부터 대기하는 현상인 ‘오픈 런’도 이어졌다. ‘명당’으로 꼽히는 장소는 영상이 시작되는 오후 5시30분 이전부터 발 디디기 힘들 정도로 붐볐다.

신세계백화점의 크리스마스 미디어 파사드는 MZ세대를 중심으로 이전부터 연말 분위기 스폿으로 알려져 온 바 있다.

On the 24th, Christmas Eve, the opposite side of the Shinsegae(신세계) and Lotte(롯데) Department Stores in Jung-gu, Seoul was crowded with people. People gathered to take a picture of the ‘media façade’, which showcases thousands of lights and videos through the exterior of the department store. The ‘open run’, a phenomenon of waiting before business to take a photo shot, also continued. The place that is considered a ‘good spot’ was already crowded before 5:30 pm when the video started. Shinsegae Department Store's Christmas media facade has been known as a year-end atmosphere spot for the MZ generation since before.

다른 주요 백화점 역시 크리스마스 인증샷 성지 경쟁에 동참했다. 더현대서울 역시 올해 새롭게 떠오르고 있는 인증샷 성지다.

더현대서울은 13m 높이의 대형 크리스마스트리와 120여 그루 나무, 6000여개 조명으로 크리스마스를 주제로 한 1000평 규모의 H빌리지를 조성했다. H 빌리지에는 자체 애플리케이션을 통해 대기 명단을 받을 정도로 매일 많은 인파가 방문하고 있고 있으며, 크리스마스 트리를 찍기 위해 2시간 넘게 기다리기도 한다.

The Hyundai created a Christmas-themed 1,000-pyeong "H Village" with a large Christmas tree 13m high, 120 trees, and 6,000 lights. 이렇게 사람들이 SNS 인증샷을 찍기 위해 백화점으로 몰리며 홍보 효과는 물론 실제 매출 상승으로까지 이어지고 있다. 이에 백화점들도 더 특별하고 화려한 콘셉트를 고안해내기 위해 수개월 전부터 준비를 시작하는 등 만반의 준비를 하고 있다. In this way, people are flocking to department stores to take proof shots on social media, leading to not only publicity effects but also actual sales growth. In response, department stores are also making full preparations, such as starting preparations several months in advance to devise a more special and splendid concept.
